106th Annual Speech and Prize Distribution Report.
‘Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others, belong to us also.’
The first and foremost duty of a teacher is to appreciate the effort of his/her students. It not only inspires the child to achieve greater heights of success but the child also starts taking pride in whatever he does, no matter how small a thing is. Keeping exactly this in mind the 106th Annual Speech and Prize Distribution Day was held on the 15th August 2010 at St. Peter’s School. The comperes for the show were Mst. Rajdeep Basu and Mst. Christopher Caston.
The Assembly Hall echoed with the sound of clapping as our Chief Guest for the occasion Mr. Mohsain Shirazi was escorted by our officiating Headmistress Mrs. S. James. All good things start by invoking God’s blessings and so the function began with the school choir singing the opening hymn ‘Bless our School Lord’. A Passage from the Bible was read by Mst. Rishikant Jena and Mrs. I. Fernandes led the school in prayer. Class 3 and 4 boys rendered a wonderful song called ‘My Shadow’.
Mrs. S. James, the offg. Headmistress was then called upon to present the welcome speech and the school report. Her annual speech highlighted the outstanding results of the I.C.S.E students, the achievement of our students in the academic and co-curricular activities like sports and various other competitions. She also gave a brief report on the infrastructural developments in school, school health, introduction of Smart Class and The International dimension at St.Peter’s. She acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of parent’s, staff and students for their support and co-operation.
A theme song called ‘Army’ which highlighted the importance of togetherness,
was presented by the choir. Our chief guest was then invited on the stage to hand over the prizes as a token of appreciation and encouragement for the students. It was a sheer joy to see the happy faces of our students as they marched smartly on the stage and collected their prizes. Gratitude was written large on their faces and of course the proud feeling of being a true Peterite could be seen so clearly.
The choir boys of class 10 stepped in with a beautiful rendition of ‘Boulevard’ which was followed by another song called’Aicha’. Mr. Mohsain Shirazi, our Chief Guest then enthralled the students and parents with his speech; he recalled his days at school and was very proud to see St. Peter’s flag soaring higher and higher with a firm footing. He congratulated the students for their effort and also thanked the parents for being present to support their children.
Mr. Sunil Kamble an ex Peterite presented a portrait of Rev.Rowan who was the 2nd Headmaster of St.Peter’s School Panchgani in the year1910 and also the Chairperson of Panchgani Municipality. On this auspicious day this particular portrait was unfurled by our Chief Guest.
